The best weight gain, specific growth rate and feed conversation ratio values occurred at 0.815 g, 0.462 % and 0.86, respectively were observed in the group fed with 9% of purslane extract. The best growth parameters were recorded in the T9 group. The growth, survival and coloring parameters were determined at the end of 60 th day of the study. The fish with an average live weight of 2.55☐.08 g were selected randomly from a fish stock of 250 fish and were 13 fish were placed in each aquarium (15 L). The study was carried out with 4 experimental groups of which composed of control (0%, T0) and different amount of purslane plant extracts (3%, T3 6%, T6 9%, T9) and each group had 3 replicates. This study aimed to investigate the effects of the purslane extract on growth and pigmentation of goldfish (Carassius auratus L, 1758). The present study reveals that the increase in dietary Spirulina levels increased the growth and color of Monodactylus argenteus. The significantly (p<0.01) highest growth and color enhancement was observed in T 4 treatment, followed by T 3, T 2 and lowest values were recorded in Control T 1. After 90 days, the results conclude that the fishes feeding on 8% spirulina powder has a mean weight of 3.305☐.30g and the highest total carotenoid content of 54.5 µg/g at a wavelength of 450nm absorption than fish that fed with 0% spirulina powder in the control group with a mean weight of 2.922☐.27g and total carotenoid content, 37.1 µg/g dry matter at same absorption. After 40 days, fish that consumed spirulina-supplemented diets at 3%, 5%, or 8% had significantly higher levels of carotenoids (21.5, 22.4, 22.9 µg/g dry matter, respectively) than control fish (19.3 µg/g), with no significant differences between treatments. One hundred and twenty fish (1☐.1g) accommodated in twelve sets of glass aquariums of 50 liter capacity (60×30×30cm) with respect to their triplicates. Four different feed concentrations were formulated with graded spirulina powder at a rate of 0%, 3%, 5% and 8% as T 1 Control, T 2, T 3 and T 4, respectively, for 90 days. This experiment evaluated the varying dietary levels of Spirulina platensis powder with basal feed (40% CP) on growth and color enhancement in silver moony, Monodactylus argenteus. Both the initial rate of redness and genetic background are thought to influence the rate of red color intensity change, which was observed to be different in the two fish species studied here. The R values had a tendency to increase due to paprika feeding but significant differences can be expected only after 4 weeks at the feeding conditions applied here. The G values remained unchanged or decreased slightly as redness increased due to paprika feeding. In most cases the B values decreased continuously during the administration of the paprika as a carotenoid feed additive, which seemed to have no effect on this process. The RGB values seem to play different roles in the development of the visible ‘redness’ of the two species. The red, green and blue (RGB) values of images were recorded and grayscale values of R, G and B were analyzed.

Digital photos of the experimental fish were processed and analyzed by using special software. Body color intensity of red-colored koi carp Cyprinus carpio and goldfish Carassius auratus auratus varieties were measured to evaluate the effect of paprika used as a feed additive.
